I got together with a good friend and fellow Los Angeles indie developer, Matt Gilgenbach (24CaretGames), recently, to talk about Retro/Grade, the response to his fantastic GDC 2013 talk (which you can check out here), and, per usual, we ended up talking about psychological disorders, tv, and life as a starving artist. He’s just one of my favorite developers, so I wanted to share him with you, too!

Thanks for watching!

    Shipping update PLEASE!!!

    • http://www.OuyaOpenWorld.com James P

Agreed, would be nice to know what’s going on regarding shipping.

I posted this in the OUYA IS F-F-FUNDED! blog post, and I doubt anyone will go back that far to read it, so I’ll do it again here.

I sent the OUYA group a hard-edged e-mail about why I haven’t received any kind of shipment notification. Believe me, I’m not a happy camper. Some sort of personal message via e-mail would’ve been greatly appreciated, but I feel we’ve all been put on the backburner far longer than necessary. This is an example of bad service.

@ john rink: No one really knows until they get notified via e-mail. I don’t even know and I ordered my unit in October of 2012. I’m pretty PO’d.

i pre ordered mine in January. I never recieved in email of any sort either. The wait has been WAY too long.

  • Gerardo

Does anyone know if you can find the tracker number on the website receipt or is it in an email

  • CadmiumRED

The e-mail I got back from them said we should be receiving tracking numbers this week.. but as far as how soon that’ll be, they never specified. I’m in the same boat as you and I’m just as unhappy.

It appears that the success of the Ouya has been an enemy to it’s customers that supported it, so many pre-orders and backers that they couldn’t keep up… the waiting isn’t so bad, but having little or no information is definitely frustrating people, including me. I still look forward to receiving it and expect that being onboard now is the hardest time for all of us. As once the demand levels out, everything should be easier. I have had great interest and support from developers bringing out games for the Ouya, as I’m launching a printed magazine covering the Ouya. So hope the wait is worthwhile and we can enjoy the console growing in positive ways.

I love how I’m backer #235 with an order for an LE console with extra controller and I’ll be one the last to receive a Ouya.

I also love how I’ve been trying to get in contact with Ouya support for 9 days and they’ve yet to give me a reply.

And I love how they charged 20$ for international shipping, while their carrier, DHL, charges another fee to receive the package. Just what did my 20$ international shipping fee go towards?

Now i’m reading that some users on reddit asked for a refund two weeks ago and still haven’t heard anything from Ouya.

    Excellent customer service and communication!

For the record, it’s not the delays that are irritating me, it’s the fact that I can’t get a straight answer from Ouya and they’ve been purposely giving us very vague shipping updates for the past several weeks while also not informing international backers about the extra fees we’re going to have to pay DHL to receive our shipment. Ouya needs to send out a press release addressing our issues immediately, just browse any Ouya fan community or Reddit and you’ll see I’m far from the only one who’s annoyed and lost faith in Ouya

When the Ouya retail version launches June 25th, will the menus look like this instead of the menus right now? skip to 0:30 to see the menus

That would be really nice, but I wouldn’t bank on that. My guess is it was done for presentation purposes, and was CGI-generated to make it look like it was “real”. If they had just done it with the way the menus currently are right now, then maybe they wouldn’t have given us such a false impression. Still waiting on that e-mail.. good god it makes me boil.

Will the console still be hackable to upgrade the 8 GB storage capacity?

    • Gerardo

I’m pretty sure it will. Even though i dont own an xbox 360 there is a feature where you can use a usb as storage so im pretty sure Ouya will have that. Just like you, im still waiting for that email.

      • CadmiumRED

I heard somewhere that the external storage capability doesn’t function yet or something.. kinda defeats the purpose as to why I bought a 1 TB external hard drive for the system so I can watch movies and shows from that, as well as play games from it. I also heard it’s supposed to be updated to have the USB port in the back be used for external storage, probably I guess when the system hits the public. I am speculating however.

Still, nothing is ever made clear with this console. I don’t get why we’re left in the dark about it. OUYA, we need more info on the console and shipping, not about the developers or games yet. Kudos to them, but I think a piece of hardware should come first, and then the software/games later.

maybe they are posting these blogs to occupy us while they are just trying to cover up something but it seems really shady. hops this isnt the case
